Can you guess where in the world this Union Suit Fan is standing in his Union Suit, taking in the view?
If you said Hawai'i, you'd be correct. There's no snow or blustery weather here! But which of the 137 recoginized Hawaiian Islands, Atolls and Islets is this photo taken? That is a lot harder to discern.
It's acutally the island of Lana'i. Admittedly, few in this part of the world wear long underwear, I'm guessing. But as far as I know, there has been no specific research as to the number of wearers of this apparel.

Wow, Chris! Union suits and palm trees go together like Christmas and July. I don't imagine that's an item packed by many tourists to Hawaii. You should accessorize that look with a lei ! ----- Retro Jeff in Illinois

ReplyDeleteNow that I think about it,Jeff, the last 3 times that I have been to Florida I’ve packed a union suit. On one return trip to NE Ohio I even wore the union suit. We made an overnight stop near Myrtle Beach to visit some friends. While we were there a cold front came in so I wore the union and a pair of cargo shorts for our evening on the sun porch and actually wore it on the drive home …….Buckeye Mike
ReplyDeleteMy one and only visit to Florida, Buckeye, was in early October of 1980. It was SO hot and humid in central Florida that the ONLY thing I would have needed to pack was my bikini underwear! I was staying with my aunt and uncle who, being "snow birds", had never installed air conditioning. This Yankee was never so glad to head north and return to the Fall "union suit" weather of northern Illinois! ----- Retro Jeff in Illinois
