Hey, Union Suiters: I am going fishing for a week or two. In the meantime work on this TV Trivia: From what show is this shot taken, and who is the man standing there in only his Union Suit?

Added June 1, 2022: Several of you figured out portions of this TV trivia scene (see the comments below). This photo is taken from ABC's television show, Bewitched, in 1965 starring Dick York as Darrin. He's the man in the brown suit who "magically" exchanges clothes with his client and the Policeman (Dick Balduzzi) who is writing him a ticket for parking next to a fire hydrant and for indecent exposure, running around outside in his underwear! The cop ends up in his union suit.

And, yes, that is Marion Lorne as Samantha's bumbling relative, Aunt Clara (one of my most favorites). She caused the underwear chaos. Here are some more classic scenes:

Check out Daily Motion and other streaming services to see the entire show:
Bewitched + "The Very Informal Dress"

Also, I will leave you this, courtesy of my pal, Clem.

How about it Union Suit Fans?
Are you particular about your underwear?
Union Suit manufacturers are having
"End of the Season" sales so now might be
a good time to stock up on Union Suits!

Watch for more One-Piece-er Posts in a couple of weeks ....Chris.

  1. It looks to me like the guy in the tv show, Married with Children, Ed O'Neill. But the by-standers' clothes and the car do not look like the late 1980's vintage, when the tv show aired. Maybe O'Neill played in a movie where he jumped out of his car while wearing only a union suit, shoes and socks. And what is he looking at? An iphone? Nah, the scene is too old... Ian in Cody, WY

  2. I believe you are correct, Ian. That must be Ed O'Neill but don't believe this was taken from the tv show you cite. I'd like to know what movie or tv show this came from. Keep digging... Chris

  3. Sam from upper end of lower Michigan regrets to inform you that this clip comes from the Bewitched TV series. The only character I can identify is Aunt Clara played by Marion Loren. Any Fans out there I gave up on the series by the time this televised?

  4. I can identify the car. It’s a 1965 Chevrolet Chevelle. That would have been an old car by the time Married With Children came along. That does look like Aunt Clara, Sam. I wonder if she is clutching her door knob collection .I don’t remember seeing that episode…..Buckeye Mike

  6. Gentlemen: you cracked the code! That scene is taken from the 1965 TV show, "Bewitched." The episode was "The Very Informal Dress." The man standing there in his union suit was a police officer who was giving Darren a ticket for parking next to a fire hydrant and running around in his t-shirt and boxer shorts, thanks to Aunt Clara whose magic left something to be desired. When the muddled Aunt Clara used her magic to first strip Darren down to his underwear and then to get Darren clothed, she accidently stripped away the policeman's clothes, leaving him standing there on the street in just his long underwear.
Thanks for the good detective work... Chris

  7. Chris: There is another tv show or movie where some cop loses his clothes for some reason and is caught standing in public in just his union suit. But for the life of me, I can't remember which one. Maybe one of the guys who figured out this cop may know.... Tyler in Tulsa
